Uncolored antique nautical chart by Joshua Fisher from 1776 showing Delaware Bay and River with parts of Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. This is an important Revolutionary War era map shows Philadelphia, Wilmington, and Cape May, as well as shoals and other dangers to ships. The Delaware River is currently well known for George Washington's famous crossing on December 25th, 1776 and although the area of his crossing is not on this map, this is the sort of chart that would have been crucial. This was printed in London by W. Faden who was the successor to Jefferys. Also includes a list of twenty-two river pilots and the masters of the vessels and a warning to be wary of the soundings for safe navigation. Visible plate lines. Very good overall antique condition with light minor discoloration mostly outside border. Approx. 18.5 x 27 inches to the neatline. ***SOLD*****
