Maker: Eldridge.
Black and white antique nautical chart by George W. Eldridge, shows parts of Bourne and Wareham, including Scraggy Neck, Great Neck, and Buzzards Bay. Also includes the early Cape Cod Canal Entrance and Dredged Canal at 25 feet deep. Drawn in pencil is the line of the New Cape Cod Canal, which was obviously necessary almost immediately after the original canal opened. Shows water depths, as well as key for location of Buoys, location of Rocks, Sunken Rocks, Life Saving Stations, Sailing Lines, Best Anchorage, etc. Very good overall antique condition with very minor toning. Approx. 19 x 14 inches. Year of publication unknown- it is apparently before the canal but indicates areas of dredging for the canal.
