Antique survey chart of San Pedro Harbor, long before it was the city that it is today. There appear to be few buildings, although an Astro. Station is noted near Pedro Point and Newtown is also indicated to the north. This chart also likely shows what is now Long Beach, although there were no signs of the city in 1859. Hand colored by a local professional artist/colorist. This chart shows soundings with an occasional note about the character of the soil underwater (rocky, hard, sand). Good to very good overall antique condition with a few minor spots and stains. Folds as issued. Measures approx. 15.5"h x 12.5" w to the neatline.
