Genuine Antique Chart
1854
Maker: US Coast Survey
Antique coast survey chart of the area near Seattle when Washington was a Territory, published by the US Coast Survey in 1854. This map shows the area of Seattle long before the massive fill projects of the 1890s-1930s, which transformed the city. What is labeled on the map as Duwamish Bay was largely filled in and built upon, and what was not filled in is now known as Elliot Bay. On the far left of the map is Alki. A truly fascinating map for any historian of the city. Very good condition with some tiny spots. Recent hand-coloring. Measures approx. 9.75 x 8 inches to the neatline
