Antique coast survey of southern California published by the U.S. Coast Survey in 1855 "to accompany a report on the physical geography and geology of the coast by W.P. Blake, Esq." Map is uncolored and shows geological details, with a key. Includes Los Angeles, San Gabriel, San Bernardino, San Juan Capistrano, San Luis Rey, San Pasqual, and San Diego, California, as well as some of Sonora, Mexico. Also includes areas labeled as the "Colorado Desert, Valley of the Ancient Lake" and "Ranges of Mountains Unexplored". With folds, as issued. Good overall antique condition with visible foxing and mild toning throughout. Measures approximately 7.25" x 10" to the neatline.
