Antique uncolored coast chart showing the western portion of the southern coast of Long Island by US Coast and Geodetic Survey. Features Hempstead Bay, part of Long Beach, Southern Oyster Bay, Jones Beach, Great South Bay, Oar Island Beach, Fire Island Beach, Blue Point, Bellport, the Long Island marshes before filling, and more. Includes recognition profiles, 13 life saving stations, and a view of Fire Island Light House. Shows water depths, shoals, towns, roads, and rivers. The chart says that it was made in 1851 and updated to 1888, however, this chart is a restrike. Restrikes are later prints made using the original printing plates, which means that they are a more authentic “reproduction" than any other type. This restrike was probably made in the early to mid- 20th century. Good overall condition with some scattered brown spots and wrinkling. Approx. 24.5 x 35.5 inches to the neatline. **SOLD**
