1858
Maker: Ettling/Weekly Dispatch.
Antique hand colored map of the lower western states of the United States, by Ettling and published in the Weekly Dispatch on January 31st, 1858. At the time of publication, the gold rush was beginning to slow down, but California has good detail and information thanks to the rush. The neighboring states are notable for their unusual boundaries- Utah stretches from California (no Nevada yet) to Long's Peak in what is now Colorado. New Mexico also borders California (no Arizona yet) but doesn't have an eastern boundary in this map. Also includes Baja California and part of Mexico. Good antique condition with some light stains and a flattened vertical fold. Approx. 16.75 x 11.75 inches to the neatline. **SOLD**
