Antique black & white lithograph print published in D. T. Valentine's 1853 manual of New York City, shows a view of the Almshouse building located on Roosevelt Island in the East River, New York City. Almshouses were buildings which provided charitable housing to the poor, and the workhouse between the Almshouse and Asylum became a short term prison for minor offenders. Good condition, approximately 4.5" x 7" to the paper edges
