Genuine Antique Map
1796
Maker: John Reid
Antique map showing New York state in 1796, by John Reid. Scarce, very early map of New York, from the second folio atlas ever published in the United States. Cartography largely taken from Carey’s map of one year earlier. Outstanding detail of rivers, lakes, early roads and settlements. Center of the state shows early land grants. Some information about Native American Indians. A great study of the state in a very early period. Fair to good overall restored condition. This map has been professionally and archivally restored but stains persist. Backed to close some tears and fill in paper loss in upper right corner. Measures approx. 15.25 x 18 to the neatline.
Genuine Antique Map from 1796.
