Antique hand-colored map of the United States c. 1864, with states and territories delineated by color, and western states in an early configuration, with a large Idaho territory, Oklahoma marked as "Indian Territory, the southern tip of Nevada belongs to Arizona Territory. Includes insets of Pensacola Bay and Hampton Roads and Norfolk Harbor, and showing detail of cities and towns, water bodies, mail routes, the pony express route, railroads, and some interesting notations regarding Native American tribes. This map has a copyright date of 1860 at the bottom but was updated regularly after that until eventually a new plate was created. Good to very good antique condition, with a separation at the center fold that has been repaired, tight margin at bottom, and some minor spots. Measure approx. 13.25 x 21 inches.
