Antique hand-colored map, from S. Augustus Mitchell's "A New Universal Atlas, Containing Maps of the Various Empires, Kingdoms, States and Republics of the World, With a Special Map of Each of the United States, Plans of Cities, etc.", 1849. With inset of Candia (Crete). Fair to good condition with some toning that is darker at the paper edges, a stain from a long-ago owner who pressed a plant in the pages of the atlas. Measures approx. 12.25 x 15 inches to the neatline.
