Antique hand colored map showing Wards 12 and 13, part of Brookline, Massachusetts, from the Brookline Mass. Atlas by the Sanborn Map Company of New York, 1925. Ward 12: Streets shown in this map are Naples Rd., Abbottsford Rd., Manchester Rd., Gibbs, Beals, Steadman, and Babcock. This ward appears to have been mostly residential buildings of a variety of materials. One of those residences is 83 Beals Street, where JFK, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, was born and lived until 1920. There is also Staley College with a College annex next door, a fraternity house, and some auto stalls. Reverse side of this map shows Ward 13 of Brookline. Streets shown on this side are Crowninshield Rd., Babcock, Freeman, Stetson, Browne, Dwight and Pleasant. The inset map in the lower left corner shows the south eastern portion of this ward. The landmark in this ward is Mayflower Ct. at top. The majority of the buildings in this ward are frame buildings, brick buildings, or cement brick buildings. They are all dwellings or flats. This map was added to and corrected over time to update buildings and streets. There are small rectangles of paper with updates glued to the page and the updates were recorded and signed in a table at the front of the atlas. Fair Antique condition; page is wavy, few pencil marks from updates, some light toning at edges, edge has red leather atlas tab and an imprint from another atlas tab. Pencil marking can potentially be removed. Approx. 26.5" x 18".
