Antique hand-colored map of North America and Central America from Johnson's New Illustrated Family Atlas, 1861. Features early county borders in Canada, Alaska as a Russian possession, and interesting state borders in the US: North and South Dakota are one large Dakota, and New Mexico contains Arizona and stretches west into what is now southern Nevada including the area of Las Vegas, Nebraska stretches to Washington Territory which includes Idaho. Decorative border, approx. 17" x 22" to outer border edge. Good condition with light toning, some mild spots and stains, and seam separation on the right side that goes into the map. Darkening along the center fold. Priced as is.
