Antique Hand-Colored map, from Anthony Finley's "A New General Atlas, Comprising a Complete Set of Maps, representing the Grand Divisions of the Globe, Together with the Several Empires, Kingdoms, and States in the World; Compiled from the Best Authorities, and corrected by the Most Recent Discoveries", 1829. This map shows Mexico before the Mexican-America War and before the secession of Texas. In 1829 Mexico included a wide area of land from Texas to California that was lost in the Treaty of Guadaloupe Hidalgo (1848). Shows an elongate north-south New Mexico and misinterpretation of the Great Salt Lake and "Lake Timpanagos." Various areas are noted as "Intendency of...." Very good overall antique condition, some minor spots. 11.25 x 8.75 inches.
