Antique black and white battle plan map of the Battle of Saragossa fought during the War of the Spanish Succession. Plan of the Battle of Saragossa, fought Aug. 9, 1710, between the troops of the Allies under Lieut. Gen. Stanhope and the Marshal Count Staremberg, and the French under the D. of Anjou: the Emperor Charles, and the D of Anjou (King Philip) being both Present. From "The History of England, by Mr. Rapin de Thoyras. Continued from the Revolution [of 1688] to the Accession of King George II by N. Tindal" published in 1745. Engraved by I. Basire. The decorative cartouche holds the key to the letters on the map. The battle took place near Zaragoza, Spain, which is shown at the top. It was considered a victory for Archduke (later Emperor) Charles of Austria. Very good condition with some small archivally repaired tears at the paper edges. Folds as issued. Some slight image transfer or ghosting. Approx. 14 x 18.75 inches to the neatline. Page size is approx. 16 x 20 inches
