c.1920s
Maker: Guilmin.
Antique folding pocket map of Paris, by Guilmin, circa 1920s. The city walls are shown in green. With streets, railroads, and the two different subway companies that were building lines at this time (Metropolitain and Nord-Sud). The map is not dated but it's year of publication can be estimated based on the fact that the Nord-Sud line A is complete on this map (opened 1916) but there is no suggestion of Line C. The Nord-Sud company failed at the beginning of the 1930s and was absorbed into the Metropolitain. Original vibrant printed color. This map is in good overall antique condition. The paper is toned especially along the folds, and significant seam separations have been repaired with archival tape. Paper is fragile. Should frame beautifully. Map unfolded measures approximately 22 x 28 inches.
