Antique map of the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut coasts published in the Sunday News on June 9th, 1940. This map has a star at the "more important swim spots" on the coast and a few on the Hudson River and also notes US Highways and State Highways. The inset map rates the beaches around Manhattan as good, fair, or bad and indicates the locations of sewage treatment works in operation, under construction, or proposed. Text at the bottom explains that "a new, comprehensive plan of sewage disposal... is slowly but surely clearing the waters of pollution and improving the condition of the beaches." Good condition with folds, toning, and some pin holes. Measures approx. 22.5 x 15.25 inches to the paper edges. **SOLD**
