Maker: Lufkin / Boston Chamber of Commerce
Antique map of Boston by Richard F. Lufkin, published by the Boston Chamber of Commerce, 1931. This pictorial map shows many of the notable buildings of Boston as small illustrations, either within the map or on the top or bottom. Buildings shown at the top are points of interest, and those in the lower left are the principal hotels. On the sides of the map is an index of places, including Assembly Halls, Associations and clubs, Museums, Schools and Colleges, and more. This map notes the location of Fenway Park and Braves Field (the Boston Braves moved to Milwaukee in 1953, then to Atlanta). Boston celebrated its 300th anniversary in 1930 and this map, prepared by the Convention Bureau, may have been a result of those preparations. Folds as issued. Map is in fair to good condition, with notable repaired separations along the folds, and some small minor stains and pencil marks. Measures approx. 14 x 19.5 inches to the neatline and 16.75 x 26 inches to the paper edges.
