Gorgeous antique lithograph map showing the New York Central, Hudson River, Rome, Watertown, & Ogdensburg railroads and connections, copyrighted 1892 by the Matthews-Northrup Co. This map advertises the railroad as the "Only four-track railroad in the world," and "Operating the fastest and most Perfect Through Train Service in the World... Equipped with New and Elegant Sleeping, Drawing-Room, and Dining Cars of the Wagner Palace Car Company." The railway spans from Boston to St Louis and includes most major cities as well as vacation spots such as Niagara Falls, Macinac Island, and Chicago where the World's Columbian Exposition was taking place around the time of publication. This map offers an interesting perspective of the Great Lakes, the Finger Lakes, the many mountain ranges in the east including the Adirondacks, Catskills, Green and White Mountains, and more. Gorgeous color and vintage typography. Very good antique condition with minor wear and some tiny tears at the folds. Measures approx. 15.5 x 39 inches to the neatline.
