1956
Maker: J.B. Jannot / Menier Chocolat
Antique pictorial map of the world by J.B. Jannot, issued for Menier Chocolat, 1956. This map features delightful illustrations of people and animals throughout, with a red line showing the travels of Jacqueline, a character in cartoon pamphlets who traveled the world on adventures, a bit like Tintin. This map was a promotional item for a chocolate company, and originally had a section at the bottom upon which the owner collected tickets that were included in chocolate bars- when all the tickets were collected, and the solutions to three enigmas were revealed, the bottom was to be cut off and mailed back to the company, presumably for a prize of some sort. With inset maps of areas near Israel, Tibet, and Belgian Congo. The bottom ticket section has been cut off by a previous owner. Very good antique condition with folds as issued, some wear along folds. Measures approx. 24 x 44 inches to the paper edges.
