1838
Maker: Monin.
Antique map of the United States by Monin, 1838. This early map of the country shows the westward progress and includes some interesting features. This map was published before the conclusion of the Aroostook War and the Maine/Canada border on this map is that claimed by the British; the US claimed much farther north, and the final boundary follows the St John River, which can be seen on this map. Also of note is Mexico stretching to the Territory of Oregon and the Republic of Texas is not yet part of the US. Red hand coloring outlines the US borders, although the color is faded in places. Very good condition with a very light water stain and some minor spots in the margins. Approx. 8 x 10.25 inches to the neatline.
