1787
Maker: Bonne and Desmarest.
Antique uncolored map showing some of the areas mapped and explored during Captain Cook's voyages of 1778 and 1779, including the Bering Strait, between Russia and Alaska, and Nootka Sound, by Bonne and Desmarest, published in the 1787 Atlas Encyclopedique. Interestingly, although Nootka Sound is shown, the recognizeable shape of Vancouver Island is absent from this map, though small markings indicate the straits on either side. Very good condition with light image transfer, and a few light spots/stains. Approx. 9.25 x 13.5 inches to the neatlines.
