Antique copper plate engraved map of the world, by Emmanuel Bowen, 1744. New Holland (Australia) and New Zealand are only partially shown, with no information about the northwest coast of North America, only a label: "Parts Undiscovered." There are various notes of "Land said to have been seen" in the southern oceans.  Some collectors appreciate the distinctive lettering style of 18th century maps. Decorative cartouche. Folds as issued. Good to very good condition overall, mild uneven toning, with a stain in the upper left. Approx. 14.25 x 17.75 inches.
