Antique engraved map showing Egypt and the western part of the Arabian Peninsula. Includes cities and some topography (largely imagined). Philippe de La Rue is known only for the fifteen maps of which he is the author, all concerning the Middle East and all published by Pierre Mariette between 1651 and 1653. This map of Egypt is all the more rare as it does not appear in the Pastoureau. Modern color. Very good antique condition with some toning and wear at the paper edges, some minor spots and stains that are hardly noticeable. Measures approx. 16 x 18 inches to the neatline.
