Antique hand-colored map of a portion the south eastern United States (Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and a portion of Florida,) By Mitchell, copyrighted in 1839 and published by Thomas, Cowperthwait & Co. in "Mitchell's School and Family Geography," 1851. Colored by state, it includes counties, cities, early railroad lines and some topographical detail. Good condition with mild toning and a few minor stains in the margins. Measures approximately 10.5" x 16.25" to the neatline.
