Rare, unusual Antique hand colored map showing a planned railroad intended to run from Boston into the coal fields of Pennsylvania, but whose private investors failed to bring the project to fruition in part due to the financial panic of 1873; shows pre-existing railroads throughout New England, New York and Pennsylvania, as well as "canals crossed or connected with together with mineral and geographical features of country passed through"; interesting engravings include a locomotive emerging from a tunnel and a bridge crossing the Hudson River at Poughkeepsie. Measures approx. 16 x 26.5 inches, Very good overall antique condition, repairable seam separation lower margin.
