Antique map of Massachusetts published in the American Pocket Atlas by Matthew Carey, engraved by Barker, c. 1805. Shows towns, cities, carriage roads, mountains, etc. Nice representation of Cape Cod and the Islands. Carey published the first miniature atlas in America, his American Pocket Atlas, with many editions from 1796 to 1814. These maps are very difficult to date when they have been separated from the rest of the atlas. Good to very good condition with toning and some mild stains at the paper edges and along the center fold. Measures approx. 5.75 x 7.75 inches to the neatline. Matted, total size with mat is approx. 10.25 x 12 inches.
