Antique uncolored map of the Northeastern US by De Laporte, 1811. From the book Dictionnaire Geographie. Includes Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, although you may notice that some of the borders are not as we know them now (New Jersey seems to stretch all the way to Canada). Cape Cod and Long Island have interesting shapes. Boston is marked too far south, Lake Champlain is not shown, and many other interesting inaccuracies will make this a fun map to own and use to quiz your friends. This map was originally made in the 1700s but continued to be published in the later editions of the book as a historical cartographic curiosity, despite new information and better maps being available. Very good antique condition with folds as issued. Approx. 7 x 9 inches.
