Antique map from the "Universal Atlas" of master cartographer Henry Schenck Tanner, hand-colored engraved antique map of Mississippi in 1836, with steam boat routes and distances between river stops along the length of the river. Some early railroads are shown, including one between Vicksburg and Jackson that doesn't connect anywhere else and a proposed railroad from New Orleans north through Monticello and Columbus. Very good overall antique condition, approx. 13 x 10.5 inches to the neatline.
