Antique uncolored map of the area west of the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains. This map is based upon surveys conducted by Washington Hood, shortly before his death. It was published as part of a report of the Secretary of War, with plans for the defense and protection of the western frontiers of the United States. Includes US Army forts and the locations of native peoples as well as the lands ceded to the US by certain Native American Indians. With folds as issued. Very good to excellent condition. Approx. 21.5 x 15.25 to the neatline.
