Antique map of the Western US showing states and territories in 1865, engraved by Goldthwaite and printed by GW & CB Colton. Inset map in lower right show a Plan of Central California on an Enlarged Scale. Much of the West was comprised of Territories in 1865, including Nebraska Territory, Colorado Territory, Montana Territory, Idaho Territory, Washington Territory, Utah Territory, New Mexico Territory, and Arizona Territory. On this map Dakota Territory includes both North and South Dakota and Wyoming. Very good condition, with a small repaired tear on the right side, tight margin on right. Folds as issued. Original hand-coloring. Measures approx. 13.5 x 17.75 inches to the neatline.
