Antique hand colored map of the World. The United States is divided to show Texas, California Territory, and Oregon Territory as distinct from the rest of the US. Much of the world had been explored at this time, but some areas, such as Antarctica and the middle of Africa, are unknown. Engraved by J Dower. From A Descriptive Atlas of Astronomy and of Physical and Political Geography by the Rev. Thomas Milner, maps by Augustus Petermann, and published by William S. Orr & Co, 1850. Very good condition with some minor signs of age, such as spots, toning, and mild image transfer. Tight margin. Page measures approx. 9.25 x 12 inches.
