Antique black and white nautical chart tracking the American Admiral Matthew Perry's expedition to force the opening of Japan's ports to trade with America in 1853 and 1854. Published c. 1856. With folds, as issued. Good overall antique condition with mild toning throughout, areas of visible foxing/soiling throughout, and a fold/wrinkle at the lower right of the map. Measures approximately 10.5" x 16.5" to the neatline.
