Antique map engraved by R. Phillips, 1812. Hand-colored with interesting detail. Shows "Owhyhee where C.Cook was killed", the United States has extended west and the Louisiana territory is prominently shown, Mountains of the moon are noted in central Africa, Tibet and Lhasa are indicated. On the left in a chart showing the height of various things, including Arthurs Seat, Mount Sion, Ben Nevis, City of Quito, Mont Blanc, Volcano of Cotopaxi, and "Mountains of Chimbocaco the highest in the known world 10909 feet." Good to very good antique condition with some minor stains and vertical folds. Measures approx. 7 x 15 inches to the paper edges.
