High-quality hand-printed reproduction of an antique map of the world by Benedict Arias Montanus from 1571. Some believe this is the first map to show Australia. Text is in Latin and Hebrew. decorative winds and sea monsters. Made using a combination of modern technology and traditional methods, wherein an original is scanned, its likeness is digitally etched onto an engraving plate, then the plate is used to print the image in the traditional way, with a printing press. Visible plate mark. Approx. 18 x 21.25 inches to the border. Has some imperfections to make it look more authentic. Could be hand colored by our professional colorist for an additional cost.
