This "survival map" or "escape map" was compiled for the War and Navy Department during WWII. Such light weight silk maps were carried by military personnel with missions in enemy territory. The maps contained information crucial to facilitating escape to friendly territory. Winds and ocean currents are marked, as well as much information on settlements and terrain. This scarf is in very good antique condition, with some foxing, pressed folds. It measures approximately 24.5 x 24.5 inches. **SOLD**
