Antique hand-colored map of the island of Crete in the late 17th century, by Pierre Mariette I. Mariette was a French engraver, print dealer and publisher who lived 1596–1657. This map includes cities, towns, topographical details, engravings of sailing ships, and the mythical labyrinth where the minotaur was imprisoned. Very good overall antique condition, with some minor spots and stains consistent with age. Measures approx. 14.75 x 20.25 inches.
