Antique hand-colored map of the Middle East, including part of Egypt, Armenia, and the Holy Land (comprised of Israel, Lebanon, and Jordan), by Cornelis Dankerts after Daniel Stoopendaal, c. 1720. Exquisite Dutch Bible map. It covers the region between the Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf, depicting numerous Biblical sites, including Babel, the wanderings of the Children of Israel, the Garden of Eden, and Noah's ark. Jonah and the whale are shown below the island of Cyprus. Good to very good condition, with repaired seam separations and some toning and some spots/stains. Will look great when framed. Approx. 13.5 x 19.75 inches to the neatline.
