1872
Maker: Picturesque America.
Hand-colored woodcut engraving of a view of Schenectady, New York, from William Cullen Bryant's classic 1872 work, "Picturesque America." This image includes the old covered bridge. The Burr Bridge was a wooden covered bridge that spanned the Mohawk River between Schenectady and Scotia, New York. It was built in 1808 by Theodore Burr. It was torn down just two years after this image was printed. Recent hand-coloring. Note: any "rainbows" or strange patterns in the image are called moire pattern- caused by taking a digital photo or scan of the many parallel lines in the print- these are not in the print and we can try to take more photos if you are concerned. This piece measures 4.5 x 9.5 inches and is in Very good overall antique condition. Text could be folded or hidden under a mat when framing.
