Genuine Antique Hand-Colored Map

1880

Maker: Walker.

Antique hand-colored map from Walker's Atlas of Barnstable County, 1880. Shows property owners' names at the time. This shows part of Dennis Village along Route 6A with Scargo Lake, New Boston, Whig Street, Corporation Rd, the beach, etc. This area would eventually come to house the Cape Playhouse, Cape Cinema, Cape Cod Museum of Art, Dennis Memorial Library, and many other beloved businesses. This map shows cranberry bogs, many of which are labeled C Bog or simply C.  Measures approx. 12 x 16 inches. This is a partial map and lacks a margin on the right side, but a skillful framer can mitigate this easily. Very good overall antique condition with mild toning and some minor stains/spots and wrinkles. Others may be available in varying conditions, price may vary according to condition.
