c. 1937
Maker: Daniel Wallingford.
Antique printed color map by Daniel Wallingford, c. 1937. This fun pictorial map shows "a Bostonian's idea of the United States" with Cape Cod, Boston, and New England enlarged. Many of the cities are jokingly misplaced, including Denver and Omaha, which are north of Sand Francisco! Florida and Texas are labeled on either side of the Mississippi River. Quite a funny map that will reward close inspection and a good sense of humor. Inset map of Boston and environs. The title features an image of the Sacred Cod. Vibrant original color. Good to very good condition with overall toning, some minor creases at the lower right corner, and some minor stains at the paper edges.. Approx. 11.5 x 15.75 inches to the neatline.
