Genuine Antique Pictorial Map

c. 1935

Maker: Daniel Wallingford.

Antique map by Daniel Wallingford, c. 1935. This comical pictorial map shows "a Bostonian's idea of the United States" with Cape Cod, Boston, and New England enlarged. Many of the cities are jokingly misplaced, including Denver and Omaha, which are north of San Francisco! Florida and Texas are labeled on either side of the Mississippi River. Quite a funny map that will reward close inspection and a good sense of humor. Inset map of Boston and environs. The title features an image of the Sacred Cod. This is a reduced version published shortly after the original publication. Very good condition with overall toning, a few tiny spots, some toning at the paper edges, a slight crease in the lower right corner and a diagonal smudge in the upper left corner. Approx. 6 x 8 inches to the neatline.
