Original map of the Territory of Alaska by Frank McCaffrey for the Alaska Steamship Company, 1949. This map was made to promote travel to and around Alaska in the 1940s. A globe depicts the routes to get to Alaska. Red lines show ship routes and highways. Red circle show gold fields and oil fields. An inset map shows the area near Seward and McKinley National Park with the railroad lines and highways. The decorative border depicts native art. Alaska became a state 10 years after this map was produced. Very good condition with some mild wrinkles in the paper, some minor edge wear, and folds as issued. Measures approx. 20 x 30 inches to the edges of the image including the border and title.
