Genuine Antique Uncolored Map

Maker: Pease.

Antique uncolored map of the Northeast published by Pease. This is an 1849 reprint of a map originally published in 1779 . The original was done by French-born surveyor Claude Joseph Sauthier, who produced many manuscript maps of New York and Staten Island during the early years of the Revolution. He compiled this map between 1771 and 1774 under the direction of the Governor of New York. This includes natural features and topography, boundaries, roads and establishments such as houses, taverns and forts. It shows the area from Long Island to Canada and from the Connecticut River Lake Ontario. Fair antique condition with foxing, folds as issued, and some staining at the folds. This map could be restored and cleaned for an additional charge. Approx. 37 x 27.5 inches to the decorative border. **SOLD**
