Antique map showing the Bay of Biscay, engraved for Malham's Naval Gazetteer, published by Allen & West, 1795. Features the west coast of France from Brest to Bayonne on the Spanish border, including a section of Normandy from Avranche to Brest and southward to Quimper, Nantes, Isles Noirmoutier, La Rochelle, the Garonne or Gironde River, Bordeaux & Cap du Nord. Also includes the north coast of Spain. Depth soundings appear offshore with a decorative compass at the center of the rhumb lines in the bay. Measures approximately 9.5 x 7.5 inches. Very good overall antique condition- restored, cleaned. Water staining is still slightly visible. Some slight image fading. Paper has a waviness.
