Genuine Antique Hand Colored Map

Maker: Universal Magazine.

Antique hand colored map of Connecticut and Rhode Island with Long Island, published in the Universal Magazine in 1780. This map features Long Island Sound and Narraganset Bay, as well as old or unusual names for many places, including Block Island, which is labeled Block Rock Island and has an undefined shape. Several embellished mountain ranges can be seen running vertically through Connecticut. A decorative cartouche frames the title. The coloring of this map is dignified and pleasant. Framed with a neutral mat and wood frame. The map appears to be in very good condition with folds as issued, however we have not examined it out of the frame. Overall frame dimensions are 20 x 24 inches and the map is 10.5 x 13.5 inches to the neatlines. The mat appears to have some dirt under the glass. We apologize for the poorly lit photographs. We hope to retake the photos soon, but if you are interested in seeing better photos, let us know! **SOLD**
