1806
Maker: John Cary
Antique hand colored map of North and South America published by John Cary in 1806. This map features many fascinating moments of cartographic history, including large areas unknown in the North American West, Spanish possessions colored yellow including Florida, an interesting northern coast of North America, the rocky mountains labeled as the Stony Mountains, and more. 1806 is the year that the Lewis and Clark's expedition ended in September, so their wealth of new knowledge of the American West was not on this map. Very good restored condition- this map has been archivally cleaned and deacidified. It retains some signs of age, including edge wear, toning, some small spots. Measures approx. 18 x 20 inches to the neatline.
