From the "Universal Atlas" of master cartographer Henry Schenck Tanner, hand colored engraved antique map of Pennsylvania detailing the 1,200 miles of a vast canal system the state built in the early 19th century that connected at times with the railroads; includes a profile map of the Pennsylvania Canal, as it was called, across the entire state, a legend of steamboat routes and distances between various destinations, and beautiful detailing of the Appalachian mountains that run from southwest to northeast across the Commonwealth.
