Antique Hand Colored Map
1829
Maker: Horsburgh
Antique map of the southern tip of India, Sheet No. 63 from "The India Atlas" published by J. & C. Walker, with good topographical detail of rivers and mountains, as well as pronounced lack of detail along much of the vast, unexplored border between the present-day states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Includes Cape Comorin (Kanyakumari), Nagercoil, Thiruvananthapuram (or Trivandrum), Kochi, Munnar, Thuthukudi, and Tirunelveli (the map doe not have any of the commonly used names for places today, and instead has the old named used by England). Original hand-coloring. Very good condition, with brown spot lower left quadrant, silk-backed, some fraying of green fabric border.
