Antique hand-colored map from the Atlas of the County of Suffolk, Massachusetts. Vol. 3rd including South Boston and Dorchester published by G.M. Hopkins & Co. in 1874. This map shows part of South Boston as it was in 1874 with property owners' names and businesses labeled. Includes Dorchester Ave, Woodward St, the railroad and some theoretical streets overlayed on creeks with lots- not yet built and roads not yet made. This area is near what is now Joe Moakley Park, but at this time the land wasn't filled out to the full extent. Original hand-coloring. Very good condition with mild toning that is darker at the paper edges, some tiny spots. Measures approx. 15 x 24 inches to the neatline.
